The Shires Rubber Jointed Tom Thumb Pelham has a single jointed stainless steel mouthpiece covered with rubber to soften the feel in the horse’s mouth. The rubber coating also makes the mouthpiece a bit thicker so pressure is dispersed over a wider surface.

Rubber Jointed Tom Thumb Pelham from Shires Equestrian has shorter cheeks than a regular pelham. The Tom Thumb style cheeks have less leverage for a milder effect. The pelham bit can be used with two reins or with a single snaffle rein and pelham converter (not included). This Shires horse bit comes complete with a stainless steel flat link curb chain and hooks. Please note, due to the rubber material on the mouthpiece, this bit is not eligible for the Mary’s Bit Rental program.
