The Stubben Steeltec 2-in-1 2-Ring Elevator Gag Bit offers two intensity levels by simply switching which edge of the bit lays against the horse’s tongue:

• If you buckle the more angular edge of the bit towards the horse’s tongue, you get more intense impact
• If you buckle the round edge of the bit towards the horse’s tongue, you get a softer impact

All Stubben 2-in-1 bits are marked with a “+” sign to indicate which edge is against the horse’s tongue. If the + is visible on the mounting (left) side, the more angular edge being used against the horse’s tongue. If you cannot see the + sign from the mounting side, you know that the softer side is in use. Switching up the edge you’re using from time to time can help prevent desensitization of the horse’s mouth. This is also a great bit for a horse that goes easily at home, but might get a little stronger at shows – you get to keep using the bit you’re used to, but can swap to the more angular edge.
